Sooners, Cinema & the CPA

George Stevens always thought the bumper stickers that read, “Ask me about my grandkids” were a joke until he got some of his own. Besides spending time with his grandchildren in Oklahoma City and Edmond, George claims the OU Sooners as his

greatest passion. While fickle fans haven’t had much to be fickle about the last few years, George has been a die-hard Sooner football fan attending home and away games since 1954.

When he’s not rooting for the number one football team in America, George is in front of a screen, big or small, enjoying movies from past to present or on the golf course. Oh, and then there’s his day job as a CPA and Chief Financial Officer for WaveLinx (TTS-LiNX CORP), where he has worked since 2000.

WaveLinx follows years of very successful work in the financial arena as a sole practitioner in his CPA practice; a partner in an Oklahoma City public accounting firm; co-founder and VP of Finance of Golf USA, an international retail chain with more than 100 locations; Novel Ideas, Inc.; Hurst, Thomas & Co. CPAs; and Kerr-McGee Corp.

Since 1990, George has served as Director for Larry Jones’ Feed the Children Ministry. His wife of 42 years, Sherry, teaches girls’ kindergarten class at their church, Crossings Community Church, in Oklahoma City and has a line of hand-painted childrens’ furniture items which are sold over another of his son’s website, accentfurnishings.com. His son and daughter have a very successful Internet marketing company, businesschairs.com, where they’ve sold chairs to ESPN, Bellagio’s Casino in Las Vegas and the Pentagon.

A graduate of NW Classen High School in Oklahoma City and the University of Oklahoma, George completed work towards an MBA degree and became a CPA. He and his wife have three children, six grandchildren, and reside in Quail Creek in Oklahoma City.
